Hijacking Catastrophe: 9/11, Fear & the Selling of American Empire

The documentary takes up America after the eleventh of September. Its real subject is the justifications given for the war in Iraq. The film’s argument is plain. It contends that those justifications were prepared long before the war. It describes a twenty year programme among neoconservative circles. That programme has two legs. One is to enlarge military spending. The other is to project American power globally by military means. The film says the attacks were turned into an opportunity for that programme. Those speaking are academics, journalists and activists. All of them stand on the same line. No room is given to an opposing view. The documentary is built as a case for the prosecution. That is worth knowing before watching. Norman Solomon speaks in the sixty eight minute documentary, an American production Sut Jhally and Jeremy Earp finished in 2004.
