What Hirttämättömät Is About
The Lonely Rider and his assistant Tonto set out to deliver the wanted Speedy Gonzales to another town and collect the reward. The poster is a forgery: Speedy made it himself, and the real reward is on the two of them. The roughly four hundred mile journey turns, thanks to the Lonely Rider’s sense of direction, into weeks of wandering in the sand, and they end up back where they started. Directed jointly by Spede Pasanen and Vesa-Matti Loiri, this Finnish western parody is the sequel to the Speedy Gonzales film of 1970. Most of the desert was shot in a sandpit at Sondby near Porvoo. It drew 179,798 admissions, and Pasanen took the Jussi award for best producer that year.
