Trinity Is Still My Name

The lazy gunslinger Trinity and his large brother Bambino decide, at their father's wish, to become outlaws; both are terrible at it. A monastery and a gun-running racket they stumble into turn them into heroes against their will. This is not a western but a parody of one: the fights are fists, guns are rarely fired, and one of the longest scenes is Bambino eating beans in a restaurant. Enzo Barboni directed. Terence Hill plays Trinity and Bud Spencer plays Bambino. It did even bigger business than the first Trinity film. With roughly 6 billion lire in Italy it was the highest-grossing Italian film of 1971 and the highest figure an Italian film had reached to that point. It sold 14,554,172 tickets at home, around 12.3 million in Germany and around 3 million in France. It is also the highest-grossing spaghetti western ever made. There was a price: the explosion of this kind of comedy is counted among the things that finished off the serious spaghetti western. Who it is for: viewers who like seventies Italian comedy and the Hill and Spencer pairing. Who it is not for: anyone after a real western. The film mocks every rule of the genre and its plot exists only to connect the jokes.
