Antoine de Maximy What Hollywood, I'm Sleeping Over Tonight Is About
The French television presenter Antoine de Maximy crosses America from one coast to the other, asking for a place to sleep each night from people he met that day. He carries three small cameras; one on himself, one on whoever he is talking to, one on the road. Some people say yes, others shut the door in his face. The destination is Hollywood. Antoine de Maximy shot and directed the film himself, an extension into cinema of a television programme long running in France. The method is always the same: no plan, no crew, no guide. The film shows America not as a landscape but through individual people. Some of the encounters are warm and some tense; none of them looks tidied up.
