House of Usher

A young man arriving at an isolated mansion to collect his fiancee finds that her brother will not let her leave. The brother says the family is cursed and the line must end here. The film ties its horror to the house itself: the walls crack, the floor gives, and the house behaves like a character. The narrative moves slowly and gives its weight to Vincent Price's performance.
