Vincent Price
41 films · 1 series
Vincent Price played Shelby Carpenter in Otto Preminger's Laura, a charming southerner who says he and Laura were to be married that week and who claims he brought Diane to the flat on the night of the murder in order to talk, then panicked and ran when the woman who opened the door was shot. The American Film Institute relays a Hollywood Reporter item of 1944 saying he was to sing in a party scene, a number that never reached the film. Nine years on he was Professor Henry Jarrod in André de Toth's House of Wax, a sculptor who survives in a wheelchair the fire that destroys his wax figures of famous historical people, says he has lost the use of his hands and legs, and uses real corpses dipped in wax for his exhibits. The institute records that film as the first 3-D production made by a major studio. Independent cinema noted him once, placing his supporting role in The Whales of August on the 1988 Independent Spirit nominee list.
