What The Web Is About

Bob Regan is a young, pushy lawyer. Short of work, he gets an unexpected offer: the businessman Andrew Colby wants a bodyguard for a short spell and will pay very well for it. Colby says a former partner is out of prison and threatening him. Regan takes the job. One night the man comes into the house and Regan shoots him. Then he works it out by degrees: the whole arrangement was a trap built around him. Michael Gordon directs, with Edmond O'Brien as Regan, Vincent Price as Colby and William Bendix as the detective. It belongs to the film noir of the forties. What holds it up is how flawless the trap is made to look.
