Aleksandr Luchinin What I Am Dragon Is About
A dragon summoned by tradition at a wedding carries the bride off to a deserted island. A man lives there, and who is what is not clear. The film keeps the shape of a fable while its weight shifts to the long stretch the two spend on the island: food, conversation, books. The visual design and the dragon animation are what it is most discussed for. Indar Dzhendubaev directed. It is a Russian production with Timur Bekmambetov among the producers. Who it's for: those who like fable structure and visually loaded fantasy. Who it's not for: viewers who find a romance built on abduction uncomfortable; the film never questions that premise.
