I Am Kathalan

Girish A. D.'s 2024 Malayalam film is about a young man studying computer engineering. Wanting his girlfriend back, Vishnu thinks up a simple trick and gets inside a system; when the first attempt works he does not stop and moves on to larger servers. He soon understands that what he is doing has stopped being a joke and become a serious crime. The film does not present cybercrime as a technical display; it describes how steps taken without calculating the consequence back a young man into a corner. The story begins in a comic register and slides into tension, with the investigation coming forward in the second half. Naslen K. Gafoor plays the part with restraint. Who it's for: viewers who like Malayalam youth films and thrillers about technology. Who it's not for: anyone expecting technical realism; the film simplifies the detail.
