I Am Not Alone

In April 2018 a man in Armenia picks up a backpack and sets out. Nikol Pashinyan starts walking across the country. His aim is to move the public against a government intent on staying. Serzh Sargsyan is trying to extend his hold on power. The walk begins alone. People join along the road. The crowd spills into the squares of the cities. The protests go on without violence. The demand is short and clear, that Sargsyan must go. Sargsyan steps down in the end. The documentary rests on footage taken from inside the events. The director reached the main figures of the process. People on the other side speak to the camera as well. The film does not question the personality cult built around Pashinyan. Critics pointed to that gap. Nikol Pashinyan and Serzh Sargsyan appear in the ninety minute documentary. It is an Armenian and American production Garin Hovhannisyan finished in 2019.
