I, Dolours

Dolours Price was a member of the IRA. She was convicted over the 1973 bombing of the Old Bailey in London. In 2010 she gave a long interview. She set one condition, that it could only be published after her death. The documentary is built on that interview. What she says is staged on screen through reenactments. Price describes how she came to Irish republicanism. She goes back over the bombing and the two hundred day hunger strike that followed. She also describes her part in the disappearances of people taken for informants. That section is among the parts that shocked viewers most. The film neither absolves her nor condemns her. It puts her account in front of the viewer as it stands. It was criticised for not giving enough context. That is worth knowing before watching. Dolours Price speaks in the eighty two minute documentary, an Irish production Maurice Sweeney finished in 2018.
