I Don’t Just Want You to Love Me

The documentary takes up Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Fassbinder is one of the known names of German cinema. He made a great many films in a short life. The documentary looks at both his life and his work. The weight falls on how the films were made. The building of scenes is discussed in detail. So are the editing and the camera work. The music and the production are described as well. Those speaking are people who worked with him. The cinematographer Michael Ballhaus is among them. The actress Ingrid Caven gives her account too. Harry Baer and Karlheinz Böhm have their say as well. The account is built out of those testimonies. Hans Günther Pflaum directed the ninety seven minute documentary. The German production was finished in 1992.
