What I Hate But Love Is About

A famous man has had enough of both his work and his life. On an impulse he leaves Tokyo to drive a badly needed jeep out to a remote village himself. The woman who arranges his schedule and runs his life, and whom he also loves, comes after him. Reporters follow the whole way, because the errand has turned into a news story within hours. The film is about how fame, publicity and sincerity got mixed together in the Japan of the early sixties; what the man is running from and what he does while running are parts of the same machine. Yujiro Ishihara and Ruriko Asaoka appear in Koreyoshi Kurahara’s hundred and five minute film, completed in 1962.
