A woman finds herself being edged into emptiness at the company where she works: her tasks are taken away, her desk is moved, she is left out of meetings and nothing is left for her to do. The aim is not to dismiss her but to force her to resign, and the method has a name. The film shows that pressure not through loud scenes but through the accumulation of everyday detail, and it brings her relationship with her daughter inside the same frame. Francesca Comencini’s eighty nine minute Italian film is based on real cases reported to the Italian unions. Nicoletta Braschi takes the lead. It was completed in 2004 and tells workplace bullying as a state of mind as much as a legal matter.
