I Married a Strange Person!

Bill Plympton's 1998 animation shows how far a hand-drawn film made almost single-handedly can go. On their wedding night Grant discovers he can turn anything he thinks of into reality, and has no idea where the power came from. His new wife Kerry cannot cope with it. Things go completely off the rails when a company executive who wants the ability weaponised sends the military after him. Plympton's line is permanently fluid; objects and bodies change shape in every scene, and the comedy comes entirely out of those transformations. The humour is crude, sexual and violent, and he observes no limits at all. It is one of the best known works of independent adult animation. Who it's for: viewers who like hand-drawn independent animation and visual humour with no boundaries. Who it's not for: anyone put off by animation with sexual content and grotesque violence.
