What Intervista Is About
Intervista, written by director Federico Fellini with Gianfranco Angelucci, features Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni playing versions of themselves. Fellini received the 40th anniversary special award at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival, honoring this film and his entire career; the film also won the Grand Prize at that year's Moscow Film Festival and was nominated for the César for Best Foreign Film in 1988. In one memorable scene, Mastroianni and Ekberg reenact La Dolce Vita's famous Trevi Fountain scene. Who it's for: anyone curious about Fellini's self reflexive mockumentary on his own film career, reenacting a legendary La Dolce Vita scene three decades later. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a conventional, straightforward biographical documentary, since the film deliberately blurs fiction and reality.
