It's Not Yet Dark

Simon Fitzmaurice was an Irish filmmaker. He had started making films while young. In 2008 he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. The doctors gave him a few years. As the illness advanced his body stopped moving. Speech and breathing came to depend on machines. But he did not stop thinking or writing. He used a computer worked by the movement of his eyes. First he wrote his memoir. Then he directed a feature film. He did the whole of that directing with his eyes. The documentary uses home videos and family footage. The narration is taken from his own book. Colin Farrell reads the seventy eight minute film, an Irish production Frankie Fenton finished in 2016.
