What Jane's Journey Is About
Jane Goodall’s study of chimpanzees in Gombe National Park in Tanzania, which she began and continued for forty-five years, rebuilt the study of animal behaviour from the ground up. The documentary travels with her between continents: from her childhood home in England to Gombe, and on to the halls where she gives hundreds of talks a year. Its second half is about the activist more than the researcher; Roots and Shoots, the programme she founded, now has branches in a hundred and twenty countries and puts environmental work into the hands of children. Lorenz Knauer directed, using footage from her own private archive and interviews including Kofi Annan, Angelina Jolie and Pierce Brosnan.
