Jappeloup

A man who leaves law to stay in show jumping works with a small horse nobody takes seriously. The horse refuses to jump and neither of them is patient. The film does not deliver the success story in one go; the narrative includes the years in between, the falls and the ongoing tension with his father. The competition scenes are shot with real horses and few cuts. Christian Duguay directed. Guillaume Canet stars and wrote the screenplay; he has a riding background himself. It follows a real French rider and his horse. Who it's for: those who like sports biography and stories shared with an animal. Who it's not for: viewers with no interest in riding; the film goes deep into technical detail.
