What Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet Is About
When doctors diagnosed the nineteen year old guitarist Jason Becker with ALS, they told him he would never make music again and would not see twenty five. Twenty two years later he is alive and, unable to move or speak, composes through a communication system he runs with his eyes. Jesse Vile's 2012 documentary does not convert the illness into a heroic story; it also shows what the care given by his family and friends actually involves. Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Marty Friedman speak. An unusual answer to the question of where music comes from.
