What Jawbone Is About
Jimmy was a youth boxing champion once and is now sunk in drink, out of his home and at the bottom. With nowhere left to go he returns to the gym of his childhood, where the owner, his old cornerman and a promoter are the only family he has. At an age when nobody believes he can fight any more, he risks his life to get back in the ring. Johnny Harris, who plays the lead, wrote it out of his own past. It never enters the triumph narrative of boxing films; drink and homelessness are shown plainly.
