What Jiang Hu: The Triad Zone Is About
When the triad boss Yam Yin-gau receives a death threat, he gathers everyone close to him in order to work out who is behind it. What comes out is less an investigation than a world built on loyalty giving itself away. Dante Lam's 2000 film breaks with the hard style he had been working in and moves into black comedy, taking apart two of Hong Kong cinema's biggest veins at once, the John Woo school of heroic bloodshed and the Young and Dangerous series. Tony Leung Ka-fai, Sandra Ng, Anthony Wong and Eason Chan share the cast. It was nominated for best picture and best screenplay at the 2001 Hong Kong Film Awards.
