Jobriath A.D.

The documentary is about Jobriath. He was the first openly gay rock star signed to a major record label. He was launched with a huge publicity campaign and was called the American Bowie, and also the hype of the year. His moment was short and was over by 1975. In the years that followed he withdrew to the Chelsea Hotel and died of AIDS in 1983, one of the earliest losses of the epidemic. The film takes his life, his music and his being forgotten together. The slow rediscovery of him by new generations is inside the account as well. Jayne County and Joe Elliott are among those who speak in Kieran Turner’s hundred and two minute American documentary, completed in 2012.
