Johnny Cash: American Rebel

The documentary tells Johnny Cash’s life through his songs. Twelve chosen tracks spread across four decades. Each one opens a period. Folsom Prison Blues brings the prison concerts. San Quentin carries the same line further. Man in Black explains where the name came from. Ring of Fire brings in June Carter. Hurt carries the final years. In his songs Cash stood against war and against prejudice. He took the side of prisoners. The film uses archive concert footage. There are photographs and objects from the family as well. Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson speak. The account also gives the changing of America in the background. June Carter Cash appears in the eighty six minute documentary, a Canadian production Jordan Tappis and Derik Murray finished in 2015.
