Mike is fresh out of prison and puts on a Christmas party with his friends. The circumstances in which that party is held are strange, to put it mildly. The film comes from the vein of dark comedy and always places the laugh somewhere uncomfortable. The sauna, the church and the kitchen table stand side by side inside the same account. Nosy neighbours, family reckonings and debts left over from prison all sit down at the table together. The account clears nobody and makes a monster of nobody. The talk is the real strength of the film, and the plot walks along on top of it. Jorma Tommila and Antti Reini appear in Jari Halonen’s eighty four minute Finnish film, completed in 1996.
