What Jowita Is About
Marek is a promising athlete with a string of short affairs behind him. Then at a masked ball he meets the enigmatic Jowita and cannot get her out of his head. He never really saw her face and is not even sure he knows her name, but he does not stop looking for her. Meanwhile he begins something with Agnieszka that looks like the real thing, and tries to carry both at once. The film asks a question Polish cinema of the sixties asked often: is what occupies a person the thing they have, or the thing they do not? Daniel Olbrychski plays the lead in Janusz Morgenstern’s ninety one minute film, completed in 1967.
