July Tales

Two summer days, two separate stories. In the first, two young women go to the leisure lake at Cergy, and swimming, lying in the sun and a calculated flirtation all run into each other in a single day. In the second, a Norwegian exchange student has to deal with attention she did not ask for from two men. Guillaume Brac builds both on misunderstanding and looks at everyone without making anyone ridiculous. The film came out of a workshop with the acting students of the Paris conservatoire, who are the cast. It screened at Locarno and took the Jean Vigo Prize for short film in 2018. The whole thing runs sixty-eight minutes.
