Sujith's 2024 Telugu film is set in the seventies. Vasudev, the village postman, knows everyone and, carrying the letters, knows what each of them is living through; when women begin to disappear and someone close to him is nearly abducted, he sets out to find answers. The structure is multi-layered. The narrative moves between flashbacks and different points of view; who knows what keeps changing and the plot does not open until the final section. It was made on a low budget without a major star and still succeeded at the box office. The period design is measured and the setting stays at the scale of a village. The plotting is at times over-complicated and some connections are forced. Who it's for: those who like Telugu mystery thrillers and layered narratives. Who it's not for: viewers looking for a plain plot; the film makes many turns and is hard to follow.
