What Kangaroo Valley Is About
In a valley in Australia, the first year out of the pouch for a nervous young kangaroo called Mala. The valley has an order of its own: hungry dingoes, winter snow, wombats, and a joey who has to work out when to leave her mother’s side. Kylie Stott’s documentary builds this not as a nature lesson but as the growing-up story of one animal, staying in the same valley for a year and following the turn of the seasons. Sarah Snook narrates. The seventy-six-minute film was made for Netflix and frames a corner of Australia most people never see. It sits at the end of nature documentary you can watch with children, without hiding the hunting or the losses.
