In the summer of 2004 the Greek national team became European champions and nobody had expected it: they had never won a single match at a major tournament, and they went into the competition at three hundred to one. Christopher André Marks’s documentary takes the story back to 2001, when Vassilis Gagatsis, the president of the Greek federation, decided the team could use some German influence and picked up the phone to Otto Rehhagel. What follows is a coach who had already won everything there was to win in Germany leaving all of it behind for a country he did not know, and two cultures slowly finding a language in common. Traianos Dellas, Giorgos Karagounis, Antonios Nikopolidis and Giourkas Seitaridis are among those who speak.
