What King's Game Is About
Ulrik Torp starts a new job as a political reporter at a major newspaper. In his first days he watches a savage leadership fight inside the Midparty. At around the same time the party's charismatic leader is badly injured in a car crash, and lies, leaks and press speculation close around the incident. The further Ulrik digs, the more it looks like a reckoning that goes all the way up to the prime minister. Nikolaj Arcel's first feature is adapted from a novel by Niels Krause-Kjær, a former parliamentary press officer. It was named best film at the Bodil Awards in Denmark. It shows how journalism and politics use each other without making a hero of either.
