La Belle Verte

On a distant planet people live without technology, without money and almost in silence. Volunteers are sent to other worlds each year and nobody wants Earth, which is considered unbearable. Mila goes anyway and lands in Paris. Coline Serreau builds it not as science fiction but as a comedy of reversed perspective: noise, eating meat, advertising, hierarchy and hurrying all look extremely strange from outside. Mila's ability to briefly empty a person's mind is the best joke in it. It did poorly in French cinemas and later found its audience circulating online. Its naivety is plain and the film does not hide it. Who it is for: viewers who like utopian comedy and French films outside the usual shapes. Who it is not for: anyone wanting subtle satire, since the message is stated outright.
