La Sierra

The documentary was filmed in a neighbourhood of Medellín. The neighbourhood is called La Sierra. A war between armed groups is going on there. The drug trade runs through everything. The film follows three people. Edison leads a young paramilitary group. Jesús carries a gun for a gang. Cielo became a mother very young. Their days run alongside one another. Violence has become ordinary. Faith and tenderness sit in the same place all the same. The neighbourhood is trying to stay alive, and the camera works from inside rather than at a distance. Scott Dalton and Margarita Martínez Escallón made the hundred and ten minute documentary, a Colombian and American production finished in 2005.
