What Landfill Harmonic Is About
The documentary follows an orchestra formed in Cateura in Paraguay, where every instrument is made out of rubbish. When the group’s story spreads quickly on the internet the orchestra is thrown onto the world stage, and together with its music director Favio Chavez it has to find its way through a strange new world of large halls and sold out concerts. When a natural disaster strikes the country, Favio must look for a way both to hold the orchestra together and to give the town something to hold on to. The film does not present the landfill and the life lived there as a picture asking for pity. The eighty four minute documentary by Graham Townsley and Brad Allgood was completed in 2015.
