What Last Days in Havana Is About
The film tells the story of two friends in Havana. Miguel dreams of settling in New York and is waiting for a visa that never seems to come. Diego is a gay man living with HIV who cannot get out of the old bed in his small room; even so he does not let go of his cheerfulness or his habit of dreaming. The film also shows the city on the edge of a large change and sets the two men holding on to each other inside that change. The account does not produce pity; it leaves Diego at the centre of his own life. Patricio Wood plays the lead in Fernando Perez’s ninety two minute Cuban film, completed in 2016.
