What Leak Is About
A rookie policeman is pressed into getting confidential information out of a childhood friend who has ended up in organised crime. The friend becomes an informant. But what he passes on is not the most important leak in the story. The renewed relationship between the two old friends goes wrong, and the young policeman is drawn into a web of lies, crime, betrayal and revenge. Jean van de Velde's film rests on the Dutch scandal known as the IRT affair, the 1994 case in which the police allowed drug shipments through. Its source is a book by the former officer Jan van Daalen. It won four Golden Calves in 2000.
