Let the Canary Sing

The documentary takes up Cyndi Lauper. Lauper is an American singer. Her name became widely known in the eighties. The documentary tells that rise from the start. First come her early years. Then the spread of her songs. Her stage clothes and her hair are inside the account too. That look drew on the punk world of the time. Lauper is also outspoken. She stands up for women’s rights. She has spoken against discrimination for a long time. The documentary runs those two lines together. Billy Porter and Patti LaBelle speak in the film. Boy George and Gloria Steinem give their accounts as well. Alison Ellwood directed the ninety nine minute documentary. The British and American coproduction was finished in 2023.
