What Let's Hope It's a Girl Is About
After her divorce a countess takes over the family farm, works out that the patriarchal order is not going to help her with any of it, and runs the place herself with her female relatives and the women who work there. When the Count comes back into her life, he and his male friends find themselves comprehensively outclassed by people who actually know the job. Mario Monicelli makes the uselessness of gender roles his subject and does it as comedy. The cast is extraordinary: Liv Ullmann, Catherine Deneuve, Philippe Noiret, Stefania Sandrelli and Bernard Blier.
