What Libido Is About
A young man returns to the house his family left him, along with his guardian and two women. The house is not empty: the memory of his father is in it, and he cannot get out from under what he witnessed there as a child. In time it stops being clear what is memory and what is suggestion. Vittorio Salerno's film belongs to the Italian gothic strain of the sixties, with the inheritance, the closed setting and the coming apart of a mind all moving at once. It is one of Giancarlo Giannini's early roles. A handful of actors, one house, almost everything indoors, and the tension comes straight out of that narrowness.
