Light Keeps Me Company

Sven Nykvist was a cinematographer. He worked in film for many years. He was known for the way he used light. The documentary was made by his son. The account rests on Sven’s own memoirs. The voice telling it is his. The journey goes to the place where he was born. To Moheda, a small place. There the past opens up again. Childhood, family and the years spent away. People he worked with speak as well. Ingmar Bergman and Liv Ullmann are among them. What light means in cinema is discussed. Sven Nykvist tells his own story in the eighty five minute documentary, a Danish and Swedish production Carl-Gustav Nykvist finished in 2000.
