Live Twice, Love Once

Emilio is a retired mathematics professor who receives an Alzheimer's diagnosis. Before the illness advances there is one thing he wants: to find the woman he loved as a young man. He gets in a car with his daughter, her husband and his granddaughter. What works is the granddaughter. She is not waiting for a romantic story to close; she is the person who sees most clearly that her grandfather is beginning to forget, and she sees the tension inside the family too. Oscar Martínez plays Emilio and Inma Cuesta his daughter. María Ripoll directed, and Netflix released it on 6 September 2019. Its flaw is that the road movie shape is very familiar and the balance between comedy and illness slips in places. The section where the woman is finally found is emotionally forced. Who it is for: viewers who like family drama crossed with comedy. Who it is not for: anyone wanting the illness treated harshly.
