Lost Bullet

A French action film built almost entirely around cars. Lino is a skilled mechanic and car thief. He is caught, but rather than send him to prison the police choose to use him: he is asked to build special vehicles against the cars drug smugglers use. So he starts working with a police unit. Then the officer who protects him is killed and the crime is pinned on Lino. The only evidence that would clear him is a bullet lodged in the body of a car during the incident. And that car has disappeared. The narrative rests on that search and barely pauses; the film runs a little over eighty minutes and contains no scene it does not need. The action was largely shot with real vehicles and stunt drivers; digital effects in the chases are kept limited. Alban Lenoir plays Lino. It was shown directly on a streaming service and two sequels followed. A production aimed squarely at anyone who likes tightly built action and car sequences. For a viewer looking for depth of character or surprises in the plot, the film has no interest in either.
