What Lost in Munich Is About
A ninety year old grey parrot arrives in Prague. The bird has one distinguishing feature: it once lived with Edouard Daladier, the French prime minister who signed the Munich agreement, and it repeats what it heard in those days. A Czech journalist in the middle of a midlife crisis kidnaps the bird and gets it to say things in public that are bound to cause trouble, and a diplomatic scandal follows. The film sets this up as a comedy and then turns towards its own making, mixing the question of who gets to tell history in with the joke. Petr Zelenka’s hundred and twenty minute Czech film was completed in 2015.
