Love

The film follows eight people moving back and forth between Taipei and Beijing. The son of a rich family gets close to his best friend's girlfriend. A young woman falls for her teacher. A woman living alone in Beijing wants a child. An estate agent has spent his whole life waiting for the right moment. The paths of the eight cross, and not one of them is with the person they want. The film, directed by Doze Niu Cheng-Tse, is a co-production between Taiwan and the mainland and its cast brings together the best known names from both sides: Shu Qi, Zhao Wei, Mark Chao, Ethan Juan, Amber Kuo. The mould is the multi-character romantic comedy, and the story leans rather heavily on coincidence to tie the strands together. Against that, the film did big business at the box office. Two hours.
