What Lupin the Third: Dead or Alive Is About
Lupin heads for the small kingdom of Zufu to help himself to its treasure, and thereby annoys its ruler, General Headhunter, a dictator of questionable sanity who puts a dead-or-alive price on his head. The island also comes with an automatic defence system that destroys everything it touches. Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko are in it as usual, with Zenigata behind them. The film was directed by Monkey Punch, real name Kazuhiko Kato, the creator of Lupin III. It was the only feature he directed, and he later said most of the work was carried by his assistant director Hiroyuki Yano. It was also the first Lupin III production to use computer animation.
