What Maine-Ocean Express Is About

Maine-Océan is the name of a train running from Paris to Saint-Nazaire. Dejanira, a Brazilian passenger who does not speak the language, gets into an argument with the two ticket inspectors; Mimi, a lawyer in the same carriage, steps in and sorts it out. Afterwards they all end up together again and the film wanders off in a direction nobody planned. Jacques Rozier does not tie his story tight, he lets it drift, which is where the two-hour-plus running time comes from. Most of the dialogue sounds improvised, and the shapelessness is the joke. For a patient viewer only.
