Marco

Marco, the adopted son of the Adattu family, sets out for revenge after his brother is brutally killed. At every step he finds betrayal, loss and escalating brutality. Haneef Adeni writes and directs. Unni Mukundan plays Marco. It was produced by Cubes Entertainments and released on 20 December 2024. The character did not start here. Marco first appeared in Adeni's 2019 film Mikhael, played by Unni Mukundan there too. This is that character given his own picture. What it is known for is the violence. Severed limbs, removed eyes, and a scene in which a newborn is held over a vat of acid: the film pushes deliberately at the limit. Violence at this level is not usual in Malayalam cinema, and that is exactly what was argued about on release. The numbers are notable too: made for roughly 300 million rupees, it took a billion, and turned from a regional release into something discussed nationally. Who it is for: viewers who follow extreme action cinema and recent Malayalam production. Who it is not for: the violence is genuinely sickening and some of it exists only to test your endurance. Sensitive viewers should stay away.
