What Meet Boston Blackie Is About
A murder is committed on a passenger liner tied up in New York harbour, and the trail runs to Coney Island and from there to a ring of spies. Boston Blackie is a former thief, and the police look at him first whenever anything happens; to clear himself he has to solve the thing on his own. The film is a fast, unornamented crime story fitted into sixty minutes, and it was made as the first in a series. The account gets the viewer looking not at who is innocent but at how a crime gets pinned on someone. Boston Blackie’s past is both his greatest obstacle here and his only advantage. Chester Morris plays the lead in Robert Florey’s sixty minute American film, completed in 1941.
