Memphis Belle

In England in 1943 the crew of an American bomber fly their last mission. If they complete it they go home. The film keeps ten men inside one aircraft and spends almost all of itself there; the narrative draws its tension from the confinement, the cold and the radio. That the mission is being filmed for propaganda sits in the background. Michael Caton-Jones directed, with Matthew Modine and Eric Stoltz in the cast. It draws on a real aircraft and a real mission, though the events and characters are largely invented. Before watching: it does not tell the story of the actual Memphis Belle crew, and some incidents were added for drama. Injuries are also shown directly.
