Mickybo and Me

Belfast, 1970. The Troubles have just begun; the city is divided and there are soldiers in the streets. Mickybo comes from the Catholic side, Jonjo from the Protestant side. They meet, and the division means nothing to them. What they share is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: they have seen the film over and over, know the lines by heart, and take themselves for those two men. One day they actually run away from home, heading, as in the film, for Australia. The violence outside does not leave them alone. Terry Loane directs, adapting Owen McCafferty's play. John Joe McNeill and Niall Wright play the boys, with Ciarán Hinds, Adrian Dunbar, Gina McKee and Julie Walters in the cast.
